This list is based on the annotated list of the birds of Hungary from the book of:

The International Ornithological Committee’s (IOC) taxonomy system has been
applied in Hungary since 2018 as the Hungarian Rarities Committee (MME
Nomenclator Bizottság) suggested. Now in our website the English and scientific
names and the position of the taxa are based on a list of www.worldbirdnames.org
(Gill F, D Donsker & P Rasmussen (Eds). 2020. IOC World Bird List (v10.2). doi:
10.14344/ IOC.ML.10.2.) and the Western Palearctic List of www.bubo.org.
Our list includes all accepted new species for the hungarian avifauna since 2008.
We update this list very often, so we present also species that are not accepted
yet by the HRC, but the official acceptance is very probably in near future.
Breeding pair numbers are also based on the book from 2008 as mentioned above.
At some birdgroups we involved specialists to update the population numbers.
We are the first to present online codes for the status of bird species in Hungary.
